NOSTALGIA NIGHT AT WATERFORD SPEEDBOWL |

Modified Feature Winner Rich Mosher #17 | Sportsmen Feature Winner Bob Seward #69B |
It
was “Nostalgia Night” at the Waterford Speedbowl on July 26th.
The weather was questionable as rain and high winds were predicted.
It was raining all around the Bowl but luckily missed the Bowl
letting the races get in that evening. The house was
packed with fans and so were the pits with tours and Waterford regulars.
Senior Tour was on hand with 22 vintage race cars from all over
New England to give the fans a touch of the “Good Ole Days”.
STAR started their day with afternoon warm ups and then at 5:00
STAR staged on the midway to let the fans see the cars up close before
the night racing began. Thank
you to the members who displayed their cars for the fans.
Sorry the midway was full and all cars could not get up on the
midway, but it was good because there were fans in the pits talking to
the STAR members there, so it made out good for all STAR members. It was nice to
see Bob Potter, sixth time track champion at the Waterford Speedbowl
join in to have some fun with STAR in Richard Chaplin #72 coupe. At race time it
was the Sportsmen to hit the track first for their feature race. It was
Bob Seward from Ma in his #69B coupe to take down the first checkered
that evening. John Mulcahy
from Ma took a very close second and to round out the pack with a third
was Robert Harless from NY in his #8 sedan. Seward was brought trackside
for and out of car interview and awarded with a trophy. The Modifieds
were staged and ready to take the asphalt for their feature race. It was
hometown boy Rich Mosher in his #17 coupe to take the victory for the
Modifieds but only by inches as Scott Poirier from Ct in his #73 Pinto
took a very close second. To
round out the pack with a third was Alec Gause from NH in his #75 Pinto.
Gause has just moved up from the Sportsmen to the Modifieds this
year and I can see he can hold his own.
STAR would like to thank Waterford Speedbowl and its’ complete staff for all their hospitality and a great night of racing.
