Riverside
Speedway, Groveton, NH held it “Weekend Extravaganza” on Friday July
25th and Saturday July 26th.
There was something for everyone this weekend!
On hand was Pro Stocks, Modifieds, Riverside’s divisions, Dwarfs
cars, Monster Trucks and Star was proud to be part of this grand weekend
on Saturday July 26th. Star
was schedule for afternoon practices with the evening bringing a 10-lap
heat and a 15-lap feature. It
was warm and sunny but the radar predicted rain for the late evening.
Once again would Star beat Mother Nature like it has done so many
weekends this year? Star was
the first heat to hit the track at Riverside that evening.
Danny Ferland from NH in his #21 Pinto and Charlie Lima for Ma in
his 2X coupe battled side by side, lap after lap for the win.
When the checkered flag came down it was Ferland to cross the line
first to pick up the win for Star heat that evening.
Ferland circled the track with the checkered flag in honor of his
win. In the feature race
Dennis Fish from Me in his #35 Nova shot to the front to pick up the win
for the Sportsmen division. The
modified division it was anyone’s race.
Who would cross the line first?
Skip Stearns from NH in his #84 Pinto made his way to the front to
capture the checked for the Modified division 15- lap feature.
Both winners were brought to the start finish line were they had an
out of car interview and presentation of trophies.
But Stearns had his own idea, like so many times in the past
Stearns is noted to find a child in the grandstands and present his trophy
to them. To see the look on
this child face was priceless. As
the winners left the track the little boy Stearns presented the trophy to
clap as he past him. The fans
were laughing and cheered the Star cars on!! Riverside was cut short of
their feature race by only a few laps before the rain came.
Star would like to thank
Riverside Speedway for including us in their “Weekend Extravaganza”
and for their hospitality with a great night of racing.
