PINES SPEEDWAY REUNION

The Groveland Historical Society held it's 8th annual "Pines Speedway Reunion" on Saturday October 2, 2010.  The crowd poured into the site of the old track to pay tribute to this great but not forgotten speedway.  Under the large white tent were special exhibits, vintage photos, scrapbooks and memorabilia of the Pines Speedway. This years honorees were Carl Tiberio, Paul Matthews, Jimmy Cheney, Jerry Dolliver and Paul Richardson.  It was great to see so many Star cars and members in attendance.  This would be the last stop for the Star Tour for the 2010 season.  On hand to represent Star was Dwight Lowes #50 coupe, Tammy Barboza #10 Pinto, Howard Coombs #64 coupe, David Scott #5 coupe, Richard Eastman #0 Pinto, Skip Stearns #0 Nova, Dave Grassie #7/11 coupe, Dick Murphy #99 Vega, Dennis Lowes #18 super and Fred Sullivan #X coupe.  The afternoon festivities closed with the annual starting of the engines as a tribute to the Pines Speedway.  Congratulations go out to member Howard Coombs for receiving the "Best Restoration Award" with his #64 coupe.
