15 ON TAP - OXFORD PLAINS SPEEDWAY |

|
Once more it was another great night for racing as Mother Nature took a vacation. The setting for the STAR Tour with 15 cars on June 26th weekend at the Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine. STAR started their day with afternoon practice. In the evening STAR was brought out onto the track for an autograph session, were Oxford Plains Speedway opened up the gates to let the fans come down to meet the drivers and view the cars up close. It was great to see the STAR members signing autographs on tee shirts, photos, and flags and talking to the fans. The children were getting a big kick on setting in the cars but I think the drivers got just as much a kick out of it as the children. Then it was off to racing as the Sportsmen hit the track first for their 15-lap feature. The flag came down and it was off to racing for the Sportsmen division. Charlie Wilcox from Ct in his #111 Oldsmobile coupe and Rick MacDowell from Ma in his #76 Pinto switch first and second position throughout the race until on the last few laps MacDowell pulled his Pinto to the front leaving Wilcox and Charlie Lima from Ma in his #10 Pinto racing for second position. When the checkered came down it was MacDowell taking the feature win for the Sportsmen division. Charlie Wilcox pulled a second and Charlie Lima topped off the pack with a third. The top three were brought to Victory Lane for an interview and presented with trophies. The modifieds we next on the tap for their 15-lap feature. The flag came down and it was off to racing for the modifieds. Jamie Ferland from NH in his #194 Pinto and Bob Bateman from RI in his #17 Pinto switched positions lap after lap until Vito Colaneri in his #55 Vega Wagon slipped to the outer grove and took over the lead. Colaneri continued running first place and behind him was Jamie Ferland in the #194, leaving Bob Bateman in the #17 and Danny Ferland in the #21 battling for third place. Bateman then moved up to battle with Jamie Ferland who was running 2nd. When the checkered flag came down it was Vito Colaneri from Me in the #55 taking the feature win for the modified division. Jamie Ferland in the #194 took second with Bob Bateman in the #17 finising off third. The top three were brought to Victory Lane for an interview and presented with trophies. Star would like to thank Oxford Plains Speedway for a great night of racing.
