Norwood
Arena Speedway, Norwood, MA was the fastest 1/4 Mile NASCAR stock car
racing track in the 1960's. Norwood Arena Speedway featured
midgets, stock car racing, drag racing and other sporting events from
1948 through 1972 when Norwood Arena Speedway closed at the end of stock
car racing season. On June 1st Bezema Buick held its’ 10th annual Norwood Arena Speedway Reunion, which is just down the street where once sat the Norwood Speedway. On hand to represent STAR was Ed Mulligan with his #61 Pinto, Charlie Lima with his 2X coupe, John Monaghan with his # 32 Roadster Cutdown and Matthew Barboza with his #2Xjr Mini Cup Car. The parking lots were filled with vintage stock cars and classic cars for the fans to enjoy. Also on hand was the beautiful restored Norwood Arena Pace Car. There was pictures, collectables and memorabilia everywhere to be viewed. It was great to see so many drivers, mechanics, pit crew members and fans from the Norwood era. Where ever you turned you would see another sharing stories and signing autographs for the fans. On hand was Bugs Stevens, Pete Hamilton, Leo Cleary, and Ronnie Bargentine, just to name only few! Congratulations goes out to Charlie Lima with his 2X coupe for taking down the 2nd place trophy for vintage race cars and to Ed Mulligan with his 61 Pinto for taking down 3rd place. STAR would like to thank Bezema Motors for holding this great reunion and for providing lunch for all who attended. GREAT SHOW! |
