On Sunday
September 8th Waterford Speedbowl held a special show
“Motor Jammin 2014” Ct’s largest custom car, truck and bike show
hosted by radio station Jammin 107.7.
There was activity on the midway with bands, in the parking lots
were beautiful classic cars, trucks, and bikes and on the track there
was racing, burn outs and much more, something for everyone.
If you missed this show you missed a great time!!
STAR would like to thank all the members and cars that showed up
for this non-point show to support the club.
It was great to
see the crowd flood in from the car show as they heard the stock cars on
the track. The stands were
filled with fans to see the vintage cars and other shows on the track.
Stars’ day started with a 10 lap heat.
Scott Poirier from Ct in his #73 Pinto showed the modifieds how
it was done and took the win for the Modified division for the heat
race. Rick MacDowell from Ma
in his #76 Camero ruled the sportsmen and took down the heat race for
the Sportsmen division. At feature time
STAR rolled on the track Modifieds and Sportsmen running together “A
Race Within a Race” just like back in the old days. I
could not get over how great these guys ran together.
You couldn’t tell who was a Modified or Sportsmen!! When the
checkered came down it was on Gregg Massini from Ma in his #19 Vega
Wagon to take the feature win for the modifieds that day.
Ed Mulligan from RI in his #61 Pinto took a second and to top off
the pack with a third was Scott Poirier from Ct in his #73 Pinto.
In the Sportsmen division it was Tammy Barboza from Ma in her #10
Pinto to lead the Sportsmen across the finish line and take down the win
for the Sportsmen division. Dion
Doyle from Ct in his #19 Pinto took a very close second and to top off
the field was new member Brad Baxter from RI in his #58 coupe. STAR would like
to thank Waterford Speedbowl and Jammin 107.7 for a great day of racing!
