Lee USA
Speedway in Lee NH was the next stop for the Senior Tour Auto Racers on
August 30th. This
was a special night as it was “Rides for Kids” night.
It was nice to see so many STAR cars join in on the fun and join
all the other divisions of Lee to give these kids a spin around the
track. STAR would like to
thank all the cars that participated in the “Rides for Kids”. It was also
nice to see the members who have been under the weather on hand.
Bob Bateman Board of Director was back after being ill doing what
he does best, taking his pictures. Also
it was great to see Bobby Turner bring his #7 Pinto for static display
and do what he does best, walking around the pits joking with the
members. Good to see you
guys back! Star
evening would bring the tour 2 heats and 2 features.
It was the sportsmen to hit the track first for their heat race.
It was Alec Gause from NH in the #75 Vega and Gary Moore from NH
in the #7 Pinto to take the lead from the pack.
Side by side Gause and Moore battled to see who would take down
the win. Alan Zemla from Me
in the #43 was now into third spot.
Now with a good lead on the pack it would be Gause or Moore for
the win. When the
checkered came down it was on Moore in the #7 to take the first victory
for the tour. Gause in the
#75 pulled a close second and to top off the pack with a third was Alan
Zemla in the #43 coupe. The
modifieds were up next for their heat race.
When the checkered came down it was Charlie Wilcox from Ct in the
#19 Pinto to shoot out and take the lead on the pack.
Rick Mosher from Ct in the #17 coupe and Danny Ferland from
NH in the #21 Pinto drove side by side for second and third. When
the checkered came down it was on Wilcox in the #19 to take the second
victory for the evening. Rick
Mosher in the #17 took a second and to top off the pack with a third was
Danny Ferland in the #21. Now it was
time for the Sportsmen to hit the asphalt for their feature race.
Alan Zemla in the #43 coupe took the lead with Robert Harless in
the #8 sedan and Rick Calantonio in the #0 Pinto side by side for 2nd
and 3rd. Meanwhile
on the outside was Wade Worster from Me in the #32 coupe making his way
around the pack? Calantonio
now taking over the led with Zemla and Worster side by side for 2nd.
When the checkered came down it was on Calantonio to take the 3rd
victory for the tour. Wade
Worster in the #32 picked up a second and to slot into third was Alec
Gause in the #75. The
modifieds were staged and ready for their feature.
When the green came down it was Rick Mosher from Ct in the #17
coupe to take the lead. Danny
Ferland from NH in the #21 and Ed Mulligan from RI in the #61 were side
by side for second and third. James
Allen from Ma in the #46 working on the outside took over the lead for a
few laps until he was put out of the race with car problems.
Now Mosher and Ferland battled for the win.
It was anyone take, who would take down the checkered.
Side by side Ferland and Mosher until the checkered came down and
it was on Rick Mosher in the #17 to take the last win for the tour that
evening. Danny Ferland in
the #21 took a very close 2nd and Ed Mulligan in the #61
topped off the modifieds with a 3rd. Star would
like to thank Lee USA Speedway for all their hospitality
