The Senior Tour Auto Racers were
Puttin’ on the Ritz as they kicked off the 2008 season at the 2nd
Speedway Expo Show held at the Eastern States Exposition in
West Springfield
, Ma on February 29 through March 2nd.
STAR is celebrating its 10th anniversary in a very
classy way!
It
was a black tie affair for the Star group.
Top hats, tuxes and champagne glasses emphases the Star display.
On
display from
Haverhill
, Ma was Dennis Lowes #50 “Little Princess” coupe.
James Allen from
Westminster
, Ma displayed his #44 red coupe and Rick MacDowell from
Sheffield
, Ma had on hand his #76 beautifully restored Pinto. Also on display
were over 100 pictures of the Lakeville Speedway, Lakeville, Ma, which
drew a very large crowd. Star
passed out many schedules and applications to the fans.
It was a very busy 3 days for the Star group.
Ms
Motorsports 08 Tiffany Skias visited
the Star booth to take pictures with the cars and the display and to
chat with the Star members and fans.
Charlie
Lima President of the Senior Tour Auto Racers was presented with the
“Speedy Award” for the “Outstanding Contribution Award”.
This award is presented to the individual who unselfishly
contributes his or her time and resources for the betterment of racing.
Congratulations go out to Charlie!
Star
was proud and honored to take the “BEST OF SHOW” award for the
second straight year in a row.
Mary Lima Race Director for the Star group accepted the award for
the Star organization.
Star would like to thank all them members who
came to help set up the display and all the members who help take down
the display. A very special "Thank You" goes out
to the "Lowes" brothers Dennis and Dwight and to Bill McAvoy
for helping out in the Star booth all weekend!
